Beyond 12 words it can be a lot harder to read. It's more of an issue these days as people get larger and larger screen resolutions. The theme you're using does have a minimum width setting of 800px so it won't get any narrower than that but ideally it should specify a maximum width of around 1200px to stop line lengths getting too long. IE6 doesn't support either min-width or max-width CSS settings so regardless users of that browser will see a squished or stretched site!
